Today I started work in the morning, going over my notes from my research as there is a whole notepads worth and I think I need to try and focus my ideas a bit more. After showers we got a rickshaw to McDonalds – what better way to celebrate recovery? (oh yeah and my acceptance onto the PhD programme ☺ )
Our mission for the day was to buy toilet paper, bananas and stamps. We were told, and I wrongly thought) that the post office was just down from Maccy D’s. It was actually a 10-15 minute walk, in the thumping heat. This did not bode well as it meant we had already started to sweat profusely before entering the stuffy post office. Where the queues were extensive. Luckily a lady pulled me to the side and notified me that women have a different queue than men and can basically skip in front, it meant that we still had to wait for a good ten minutes and by the time I had gotten our 19 stamps we were all pools of dampness. This is not great when you need to stick stamps, they got stuck everywhere, I even had a bit of stamp stuck on me for the rest of the afternoon (only to be discovered when it dropped off on my bed a few hours later). With the stamps stuck we had to work out which post box was to be used, in the end we put them all in the same one (we had one card for India) and decided they will arrive at some point (of if anyone wants a postcard, let me know your address, I haven’t any with me ☹ ).
Apparently the banana guy spent our whole transaction checking me out, I thought it was a great transaction 7 bananas for 50p, after that though I am not so sure. Toilet paper, nimbooz and a new orange shopping bag in hand we headed home to work some more.
Early evening we went to the movies. We saw Inception. I loved it. I loved the whole experience, from the tomato chilli popcorn to the fact we were in a cinema and it felt familiar. The movie was also great, in my opinion. It was sad but I love the different layers of it and the way it is left in suspension, the ending does not seem final, or is it? Dinner was at pizza hut. I love Pizza Hut here, they have many more pasta choices than in England and they also do yummy potato pieces, which do have cheese on but I just took the cheese off.
Now I am finally back on top of my blog and I will try keep up to date every day or so and to also think of interesting witty things to talk about rather than having to rely on a poor memory.
